The 5th SwissText & 16th KONVENS Joint Conference 2020 (hereinafter referred to as “event”) is organised jointly by: - Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), represented by the Institute of Applied Information Technology (InIT)
- University of Zurich, represented by the Department of Computational Linguistics
- Registration
The registration for the event must be made via the booking platform. The registration is binding upon payment of the participation fee. By registering, the participants confirm that they have noted and accepted these General Terms and Conditions.The number of places at the event is limited. The places will be allocated in the order of registration. - Type of event, programme changes and non-implementation
The organiser will run the event online.The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the event programme in terms of content and personnel. In this case, there is no claim to a full or partial refund of the participation fee.If a minimum number of registrations is not reached or if there are other important reasons, the organiser reserves the right to cancel the event. The registered persons will be informed as early as possible about the cancellation and the already paid participation fee will be refunded. Further claims for compensation are excluded. - Terms of payment and cancellation
The participation fee must be paid immediately upon registration using the payment options offered on the booking platform.In case of cancellation by June 10, 2020, the participation fee will be refunded minus an administration fee of 20% of the participation fee. In case of cancellation after June 10, 2020 or in case of no-show, the entire participation fee is due.
However, the registration can be transferred to another person free of charge until 19 June 2020.The cancellation or transfer must be effected directly via the booking platform. - Insurance
Taking out appropriate insurance is the sole responsibility of the participants. - Participant data
For administrative purposes, personal data of the participants such as surname, first name and e-mail address are collected during registration. Additional information such as country, current role, affiliation, NLP interests, etc. is collected on a voluntary basis. The latter details are used for statistical analysis. The organiser uses the above-mentioned data exclusively for the purpose of providing information regarding the current event as well as future events. This information will be sent via e-mail. Participants can unsubscribe from the organiser’s mailings at any time. The organiser will create a list of participants, which contains information such as first name, last name, email, current role, affiliation and NLP interests of the participants. This data is collected during the registration process. Participants can indicate during registration if they want to be included in this list of participants. The list is only distributed to those participants who have agreed to be included in it. - Liability
The liability of the organiser is limited to wrongful intent and gross negligence. Liability for indirect damages is excluded. - Copyright and other rights
Presentations and distributed documents presented at the event are protected by copyright and may only be used for personal use. Any duplication, distribution, processing or public reproduction of these materials, as well as any other use of the materials beyond personal use requires the prior written consent of the organiser and/or the authors.It is not permitted to create audio or video recordings of the event. - Audiovisual material
The participants agree that the organiser is entitled to record audiovisual material (videos, photographs, sound recordings) at the event, which may also include their own person. The organiser may use the audiovisual material in all types of media for advertising, communication and marketing purposes in connection with the event and future events of this type. - Applicable law and jurisdiction
Swiss law shall apply to any legal disputes arising in connection with the event. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Winterthur.
In the following, these are collectively referred to as “the organiser”.
